Privacy Policy

The Straits Eye Centre (“TSEC”) operates www.straitsmyopia.com.sg and may operate other websites. It is TSEC’s policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect while operating our websites.

Website Visitors

Like most website operators, The Straits Eye Centre (TSEC) collects non-personally-identifying information typically made available by web browsers and servers, such as browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. TSEC collects this information to better understand how visitors use its website. From time to time, TSEC may release non-personally-identifying information in aggregate, such as by publishing reports on website usage trends.

TSEC also collects potentially personally-identifying information, like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, for logged-in users and users leaving comments on www.straitsmyopia.com.sg blogs or sites. TSEC only discloses logged-in user and commenter IP addresses under the same circumstances as it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, except that commenter IP addresses and email addresses are visible to the administrators of the blog or site where the comment was left.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to TSEC's websites choose to interact in ways that require TSEC to collect personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information gathered depend on the nature of the interaction.

For example, visitors signing up at www.straitsmyopia.com.sg are asked to provide a username and email address. Those engaging in transactions with TSEC are asked to provide additional information, including the personal and financial details necessary to process such transactions. In each case, TSEC collects information only to fulfill the visitor’s purpose for interaction. TSEC does not disclose personally-identifying information except as described below. Visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, though this may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities.

Aggregated Statistics

TSEC may collect statistics about website visitors' behaviour and may display this information publicly or share it with others. However, TSEC does not disclose personally-identifying information except as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

TSEC discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to its employees, contractors, and affiliated organisations that (i) need the information to process it on behalf of TSEC or provide services available on TSEC websites, and (ii) have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using TSEC websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them.

TSEC does not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying or personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations, as described above, TSEC discloses such information only in response to a subpoena, court order, or other governmental request, or when TSEC believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the rights or property of TSEC, third parties, or the public.

If you are a registered user of a TSEC website and have provided your email address, TSEC may occasionally send you emails about new features, solicit feedback, or keep you informed about what’s happening at TSEC. If you send us a request (for example, via email or a feedback mechanism), we reserve the right to publish it to clarify, respond, or support other users.

TSEC takes all reasonable measures to protect against unauthorised access, use, alteration, or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, which the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. TSEC uses cookies to identify and track visitors, their usage of the TSEC website, and their website access preferences. Visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using TSEC websites. However, some features of the TSEC websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

Business Transfers

If TSEC, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that TSEC goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur and that any acquirer of TSEC may continue to use your personal information as outlined in this policy.

Ads

Ads appearing on any of our websites may be delivered to users by advertising partners, who may set cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognise your computer each time they send you an online advertisement, compiling information about you or others using your computer. This information allows ad networks to deliver targeted advertisements they believe will be of most interest to you. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by TSEC but does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, TSEC may update its Privacy Policy from time to time at its sole discretion. TSEC encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes. If you have an account on www.straitsmyopia.com.sg, you may also receive an alert informing you of updates. Your continued use of this site after any change in the Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such changes.
